Dutchess After-School Program Grant

The Dutchess After-School Grant program will offer modest 2-year, general operating support grants to non-profit organizations across Dutchess County who are providing established after-school programming to youth in our community.  These programs should focus on academic support, including tutoring/mentoring in core subjects such as math, science, and reading, as well as cultural enrichment activities like arts, sports, and technology.

Objectives:

  1. Enhance Academic Achievement: Provide academic support to help students improve their performance in key subjects.
  2. Increase Accessibility: Ensure programs are accessible (within walking distance for students or have transportation needs met) and basic student needs are addressed so they can participate and thrive in their programs.
  3. Promote Safe and Supportive Environments: Create safe spaces where students can engage in positive activities and receive mentorship.
  4. Foster Community Engagement: Encourage local organizations and stakeholders to collaborate and invest in the success of our youth.

10 grants of $10,000 (to be disbursed in 2 payments of $5,000 annually) will be awarded.

Funding will be distributed in rural and urban communities across Dutchess County

Field Trip Grants

Award Notifications: Notifications from Mid-October – Late-January based on submission date and the various deadlines

The Community Foundations, through a grant from the Dyson Foundation, is pleased to offer a Field Trip Grant program. This grant program is designed to distribute funds in amounts up to $2,000 to public schools in Dutchess and Ulster Counties to enhance classroom learning opportunities. Schools will generally be limited to no more than two field trip grants each ($4,000 award cap), as the competitive application process warrants. Funding priority will be given to high needs schools/ districts.

Fund for Excellence in Education Grants

Application Deadlines: 12/15/2025
Award Notification: Late January/early February 2026

Fund for Excellence in Education Grants offer K-12 classroom teachers in Dutchess, Putnam and Ulster counties, funding opportunities to support special classroom projects or professional development for teachers. Grants awarded will have a direct benefit to classroom learning and support achievement of educational outcomes. Grants made through this program will not exceed $2,500. Average awards range from $1,000 – $1,500.

Nuvance Health Taconic IPA Science Education Grants

Award Notification: Late January/early February

To: Public, Private, and Parochial Secondary (Grades 7–12) Science Teachers in Dutchess, Orange, and Ulster Counties.  The purpose of these grants is to expand students’ learning opportunities in the sciences through the acquisition of classroom and laboratory science equipment. This equipment could include microscopes, temperature probes, light probes, computer-related equipment and software, and other laboratory tools.
