It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our esteemed colleague and dear friend, Nancy Rossi Brownell. Nancy joined as a volunteer with Community Foundations in 2005, later serving as the Board President, and most recently as Vice President of Development for Putnam County where she played a pivotal role in asset management, outreach, and touched the lives of so many throughout the Hudson Valley.
Nancy’s contributions were profound and made an enormous effect with nonprofits, donors, building bridges throughout the community, and was a beacon of warmth and kindness with an infectious laugh and sense of style that lit up any room she entered.
Nancy was a recipient of the Joseph A. Bonura Award for Leadership Excellence and the Southern Dutchess Exchange Club Meritorious Service Award. Her dedication to the community was unwavering, evident in her involvement with organizations such as Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation, Directors of the Estate Planning Council of Putnam County, Putnam County Service Network and Garden Club of Orange and Dutchess Counties.
As we mourn Nancy’s passing, our thoughts are with her beloved husband Rick, their sons Tyler and Justin, and their extended family. May they find solace in the cherished memories and profound impact she had on the lives she touched. Per the family’s wishes, they are welcoming any donations in her name to The Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley.
