Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley to Honor Local Philanthropists at Annual Garden Party

Rick & Nancy* Brownell, Tim & Alicia Dean, and Andrea L. Reynolds to be celebrated for their commitment to community service

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York, August 2024 – The Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley (CFHV) is proud to announce its annual Garden Party, celebrating exemplary community service and philanthropy on Sunday, September 15, 2024. The event will take place from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at Kirby Hill Farm, located at 15 Kirby Hill Road in Pawling.

This year’s Garden Party will honor three outstanding individuals for their exceptional contributions to our communities. The distinguished honorees are:

  • Rick and Nancy* Brownell for Putnam County
  • Tim and Alicia Dean for Dutchess County
  • Andrea L. Reynolds for Ulster County

Tickets for the event can be purchased at CommunityFoundationsHV.org. Net proceeds from the Garden Party will support nonprofit organizations through CFHV’s Community Grants program, benefiting Dutchess, Putnam, and Ulster counties.

Laura Washington, CFHV’s President and CEO, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Each year, our Garden Party celebrates the remarkable contributions of individuals whose dedication strengthens our communities. This year’s honorees and their unwavering commitment inspires us all to continue supporting the crucial work of local nonprofits that are making a positive difference.”

Honoree Highlights:

  • Rick and Nancy* Brownell have been pivotal in shaping their community through civic and philanthropic leadership. Nancy’s extensive involvement with the Community Foundations, including roles as volunteer, committee member, Board Chair, and Vice President for Putnam County, has left a lasting impact. Nancy’s presence in the community and within CFHV is a great loss. Together with Rick and their children, Tyler and Justin, they have been instrumental in various civic and nonprofit organizations.
  • Tim and Alicia Dean have dedicated over four decades serving Dutchess County. Alicia, a retired IBM quality assurance chemist, and Tim, former CEO of Marshall & Sterling, have both contributed significantly to their community. Tim, a former Board Chair of the Community Foundations, and Alicia, have served on multiple local nonprofit boards and donated much of their time to charities throughout the Hudson Valley, exhibiting their commitment to local philanthropy.
  • Andrea L. Reynolds began her career in philanthropy at United Way of the Mid-South and the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis before becoming President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Dutchess County in 2005. Under her leadership, the foundation expanded its service area and grew to $55 million in assets, leading to the creation of Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley. Andrea serves as President and CEO of the Dyson Foundation and is honored to be celebrated alongside her distinguished peers.
