In March 2020, Covid began to impact our community, and we opened our emergency response funds before the statewide lockdown. Fueled by your generous gifts, nonprofit first responders received grants in a matter of days. Covid also forced us to cancel the annual Garden Party, our ‘party with purpose’ that supports local nonprofits and honors the generosity of our neighbors. Instead we turned to you, and you stepped up with generous support for our Pivoting to Respond Initiative.

We are faced with the fact that community needs, magnified by the uncertainty of the pandemic, continue.  Nonprofits are a part of the fabric of the Hudson Valley and critical on so many levels. Yet reduced resources for these organizations and increased demand for their services remains.

We are again turning to you, the community, to help us in “Building Resilience” in our region to regain ground lost to Covid. Even as we embrace the hope of returning to ‘normal,’ it is a long process to recover and rebuild our nonprofit first responders and the communities hardest hit. Our future resilience depends on our willingness to address the inequities that the pandemic so painfully reveals.
