Poughkeepsie, NY – The Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley will celebrate regional philanthropy,
Sunday, September 30th at Bontecou Farm in New Paltz. This year’s event will mark the 24
th annual Garden Party.
Dubbed the organizations ‘celebration of good,’ the Garden Party will recognize philanthropic leaders from Dutchess, Putnam and Ulster counties. The couples to be honored are:
Floyd Lattin and Ward Mintz of Ulster county,
Lou and Candace Lewis of Dutchess county, and
Claudio and Jean* Marzollo of Putnam county. They note that award-winning author Jean Marzollo will be honored posthumously, as she sadly passed away shortly after being selected as an honoree in April.
“Each year the Community Foundations gathers with hundreds of friends and supporters to toast the generosity that defines our region,” said Kevin Quilty, Vice President of the Community Foundations. “We come together to fete those who do good, and through their participation our guests are able to do just that. Proceeds from our signature event support our Community Grants program, which in turn makes grants to nonprofits throughout the region. $85,000 in grants resulted from last year’s Garden Party, and over $1.1 million in grants have been generated since the year 2000.”
The Garden Party typically draws more than 400 civic leaders, community members and supporters. Guests will enjoy stunning views of the Shawangunk Mountains at historic Bontecou Farm with hosts Linda and Tom Hopfenspirger, along with delicious, local food from Farmers and Chefs Catering.
