The Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley (CFHV) is pleased to announce that its Community Grants program has awarded over $130,000 to nonprofits in Dutchess, Putnam and Ulster counties. The program invests in local nonprofits with general operating, program and capacity building support.
The Community Grants are flexible funds that enable us to respond to emerging and longstanding community needs,” said Sally Cross, President and CEO. “Funded by support from generous donors, this program has supported literally hundreds of nonprofits since its founding. This is a great example of how, by pooling donations large and small, we can have a lasting impact together. We are grateful for the many gifts that have created these funds as a permanent resource for our community.”
“We are excited to have such a diverse, creative and resourceful cohort of nonprofit partners receiving funds this year,” said Cristin McPeake, Vice President of Programs. “The needs of food access, mental health supports and programming for youth continue to increase, but the work and solutions our nonprofit partners provide keeps us inspired and motivated to keep growing our Community Grants program.”
Among the recipients of the 2022 CFHV Community Grants is Finish Strong Wellness Center in Poughkeepsie. When asked how receiving a grant from CFHV will affect their organization, Dennis Woodbine, Executive Director said; “Funds from the Community Foundations 2023 General Operating Support grant will allow Finish Strong to retain a contract accountant that will manage revenue, expenses and cash flow. The accountant will be generating quarterly reports, including a balance sheet and income statement, filing all tax documents, and assisting with financial planning for 2024. Retaining an accountant will take Finish Strong to the next level of success by safeguarding sustainability, improving service quality, and ensuring transparency and accountability.” Another recipient was the Center for Creative Education in Kingston. Executive Director, Bryant “Drew” Andrews, had this to say; “I really can’t overstate the impact that a Community Foundation grant has on out programs. Supporting the vision of a better world starts with love and support, education, creativity and socialization of our children and their families.”
