After securing a challenge grant and matching funds from local donors, the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley opened the Community Response Grant program to Putnam nonprofits. This fall the Foundations awarded grants to six nonprofits. Grantees were selected by a volunteer committee who collectively reviewed 22 grant requests. The first cohort of applications was highly competitive and funded requests ranging from staff development and program support to technology purchases and upgrades.
“We are so grateful for the many hours our volunteer committee members spent carefully considering each request we received,” said Nancy Rossi Brownell, Vice President, Putnam. “These applications demonstrate the diversity of both needs and services in the community, and the value of opening up Community Response Grants in Putnam County.”
Grant recipients will be recognized at a reception to be held December 13
th at the Putnam History Museum in Cold Spring.
The inaugural Putnam county Community Response Grants will be awarded to the following organizations:

These grants were made from the Community Foundations’ Community Response Grants program, which is funded by the generosity of donors, the Dyson Foundation Challenge Grant and proceeds from an annual Garden Party fundraiser.
