What are Your Clients Philanthropic Interests? Do they want to…
Actively Participate as a Grantmaker?
With a Donor Advised Fund at the Community Foundations, your clients can recommend grants to nonprofit organizations – in our region, anywhere in the U.S., and even internationally. Our professional staff ensures that the recommended organizations meet IRS requirements. Your clients can choose to set up automatic donations to causes they recommend and have online access to their funds to recommend grants, add to the fund, and review grant and giving history as well as investment performance. We will send your clients quarterly statements that summarize the fund’s activity. They can also name successor advisors, such as children, to carry on their family’s legacy of giving. A Donor Advised Fund can be established with a gift of $5,000 or more.
Receive personal attention and assistance. Our knowledgeable staff is available to help identify organizations worthy of support. We also offer your clients opportunities for education and networking with other community- minded philanthropists.
Support specific charitable organizations?
Your clients can establish funds that designate specific groups to receive distributions from their funds. The designated groups must be a public charity or the equivalent (such as a house of worship). If that group ceases to exist, or the purpose it serves becomes obsolete, the Community Foundations trustees have the responsibility and authority to reapply the distributions to a similar charitable organization. A Designated Fund can be established with a gift of $25,000 or more.
Strengthen a community or specific area of interest?
Your clients can establish funds that direct grants for such purposes — such as disadvantaged children, the elderly, the performing arts, their hometown, or whatever they care most about. A Field of Interest Fund can be established with a gift of $25,000 or more.
Invest in the future of the Hudson Valley?
Giving to the Community Foundations’ community funds – The Fund for the Hudson Valley, and the Funds for Dutchess, Putnam and Ulster Counties, give us the ability to respond to the often changing most pressing needs in our community, today and forever.
Enable students to realize their educational dreams?
Scholarship funds can benefit many types of students and educational institutions in our region. The Community Foundations offers two types of scholarship endowments: those with recipients selected by the Community Foundations Scholarship Committee or a Donor Involved Scholarship Fund which allows a family member to more actively participate in the scholarship selection committee. A donor can establish a Foundations’ Selected Scholarship Fund for $250,000 or a Donor Involved Scholarship Fund for $500,000.
